Malgosia Turzanska was born and raised in Krakow, Poland. After finishing high school, she moved to Prague, Czech Republic, to study Costume and Set Design at the famous DAMU school (theatre sister of FAMU), where she got her BA. During her study there, in addition to designing student productions, she also assisted the Polish director Agnieszka Holland on a shoot in Slovakia.
In the summer of 2006 she moved to New York, where she was accepted to the Tisch graduate Costume Design program on a scholarship. Since moving to America, she has designed numerous stage performances and short films, including close collaboration with Patricia Noworol Dance Company, and award-winning New Orleans fable, “Glory At Sea”. She’s also designed “Time to Pretend” video costumes for Brooklyn band MGMT, along with the clothes for their CD cover art and their appearance on the David Letterman Show.
She recently received an MFA from NYU’s Design for Stage and Film Department.
She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two cats.
